Discoveries

Discovery

Does true discovery even exist?
Is there anything that’s been previously missed?
Is there anything that’s never been seen?
Or does discovery something else mean?

Is it something I’ve never seen before?
Is it something that just touches the core?
Is there even a definition, cut and clean?
Or is it something different for you and for me?

Can you discover things that are definite, for sure?
Or can they be things, incredibly obscure?
Things that are not, completely concrete,
Things that are not, clear cut and neat?

What can I discover, when I look out my door?
What can I discover, there must be so much more?
What can I discover, discoveries can’t be too hard to find?
What can I discover, just using my mind?

We can discover without even knowing,
With each new discovery, eyes start glowing.
And that is when our discoveries begin,
When we realize what our minds have let in.

Frozen Time

What if time were liquid? Would it be a river, rushing downhill forever from an undefined mountaintop or mythical spring? We would be the debris, the browned evergreen needles and waterlogged twigs, tossed around in the fickle current. What are moments? Are they groups of water molecules that rush along with us? Or are they little marks on the bank that we watch fly by as we are helplessly pulled along by the current, no matter how hard we try to cling to them.

What if there was a rock poking out above the surface of time? Could it stand the relentless rush of time? Would the debris be caught on it, abandoned in a single moment as the other twigs and needles were swept around a bend in time and out of sight? What could that debris do until it was dislodged by the river? Would it think? Would it ever catch up?

Looking at him wondering…
He talks about life.
Does he know…
He laughs at our childhood memories.
I feel this way?
He leans over and hugs me.
Does he know…
He says he's happy we're best friends.
That I dream of him?
I hug back and try to not look him in the eyes.
Does he know…
I tell him I'm happy we're friends also.
I'd die for him…
"good" he whispers.

Questioning love

What is love?
Is it a blazing fire in your heart?
Or is it an instant thing?
Does it start with friendship?

Is love something sweet you say?
Is it something you give?
Is it all kisses and hugs?
Or maybe something more?

Does it last forever?
Or maybe just a few days?
Does a sweet wind cradle you for it?
Or does It grow and bloom, not unlike a rose?

because I don't know.

and how to love.
It's nothing I've never felt.
I watch them all.
The people who know these answers
and I always wonder:
How were they so lucky to find it?

Mistake

She sat in her room and cried
Alone in the corner all by herself
She could not face the reality
The cold reality of what had happened

Could she ever get over it?
Would her heart ever heal?

These answers she did not know
She might not even know
All she could do was sit and cry
She could only do what felt better

Would he call her again?
Was everything really over?
