Snowday Prayer

Oh peaceful and graceful snow,
please keep silently falling to earth
so a tired and homework filled child may sleep in the morning hours
when all should rest.
Please keep falling to earth,
And make the roads just bad enough so the superintendent will cancel school,
But not bad enough to make the roads dangerous,
But enough to cancel school,

Snow…
School…
Why,
Oh Why am I here?
Isn’t snow supposed to bring joy
And happiness to kids?
Bring days off,
Or at least some sleep?
Snow is supposed to rejuvenate us all.
Today,
Is didn’t.
It tired us out,
It made commutes harder.
Snow…
Adults don’t understand
Snow…
I weep when I think of all of the other kids
Sleeping
Playing
Escaping school…
