Ideas for Commenting
Submitted by ggevalt on March 8, 2008 - 18:30.Time for a reminder about commenting:
- Respect. One of the main rules of this site is to treat each other with respect. It is not respectful to talk about folks behind their backs and it presents a real dilemma for this site if you name them. Please do not name people in your writing. Please. And if you don't understand what I'm saying, just imagine if you came upon your name in a conversation on a Web site.
- Civility. Keep in mind that writing is about tone -- be in control of the tone, use a tone that is stripped of emotion when you are angry about something someone wrote or you disagree or you really don't like it. Be constructive and supportive. Thanks.
Winter Conference -- Reactions
Submitted by ggevalt on March 8, 2008 - 18:19.Thanks to all of you who were able to attend our first Writers' Conference. We had 28 students there from all over. Many thanks for our energy and active participation. I learned a lot and I really enjoyed Rusty and Doug.

Phantom of the YWP Conference
Submitted by pineapple_babbit on March 10, 2008 - 14:54.It’s silent,
Mostly.
The music from the basement
Is softly drifting up
Distracting or work.
As soon as it began,
It stopped.
Silence again,
Until
The basement door flies open,
And a masked man in a cape
Glides into the room,
And kidnaps me.
He brings me back to his dark basement,
Filled with candles glowing and flickering,
And a black grand piano.

Yesterday
Submitted by YaMoGeekRoZ on March 9, 2008 - 15:53.I must say,
It’s a surprise to see the faces,
That were shadows until now.
To finally meet
These strangers,
Who know
And seem to understand you,
In a way
You thought that maybe,
nobody ever would.
To see these faces
Come to light
And talk with voices,
Not just in written words.
And to know
Every single one is there
For the same reason you are,
Is a feeling quite unimaginable

Beautiful Poets
Submitted by miss_literal on March 9, 2008 - 14:50.A bright green frog
is transformed into a

short hair and
square glasses.
A brown tennis shoe is really a
wavy-haired girl in blue.
A pink flower resting on a hand
is a bubbly girl
wearing jazz shoes.
Then there's squeejay,
who has a headful of
frizzy blond hair,
and Rebel Angel,
quiet and eloquent.

TAG
Submitted by Professor_Zoom on March 8, 2008 - 22:28.I've still got my
name tag
on.
"PROFESSOR DOOM"
with a "Z"
scribbled over the "D"
and below that
"Cassidy".
Even I wasn't sure
which to refer to myself as
But I think
it's the same guy.

Lost
Submitted by obscure_one on March 8, 2008 - 22:21.I feel as though I've
lost a little bit of
something now that you
all know what my
face looks like.
What my breathing,
living, three-dimensional
personality is like.
What my
voice sounds like and how it
says less than my
two-dimensional one.
Now that you can
put a face to all the
words, I worry I've
disappointed all of you.
I feel as though I've
lost the chance to be

Reckoning

Your faces

I'm not quite
Ready
To talk about it
Yet.

Conference
Submitted by Usagi on March 8, 2008 - 18:13.I'm still wearing my nametag
bent a little on one side.
USAGI
it says
next to the picture of my
twining blue and black tree.
Who decided to put my
real name
in larger font?
No one knows me as
Bridget
anyway.
I keep looking in the mirror.
So this is the
Usagi
you all saw.
I wonder how I
looked
to you all.
Did I look like Usagi?
Or
Bridget?

Weird YWP Conference Dream...
Submitted by pineapple_babbit on March 3, 2008 - 15:46.Everyone knows my dreams are weird,
But this one pretty much tops the rest…
It’s about the YWP conference.
Everyone was there,
Mango,
Usagi,
Squeejay,
Apples,
Everyone.
Apples came with me to the conference
And the first person we met at the door was Mango.
She looked just like her picture,
But she was short,
So short that she only came to my knees,
