Sonnet

The mother screams when the baby comes out.
The nurse quickly takes it to weigh it.
The new dad gives a shout.
The nurse brings the babe back while it has a fit.

The mother smiles at her new baby.
The father holds it and a tear drips down.
The granddad takes I and names it Cady.
The grandma looks down adoring her clown.

The newborn baby is really famished.

MY ROOM

My Room

By Kaitlin Olsen
Lyme School, Grade 7

The clothes on my floor
Blanket the ground like lush green grass
On the forest floor
My dresser leans up against my green walls
Like a rock just lying there in the middle of the forest
My closet full of clutter
Like leaves and twigs lazily lying on the cold dirt
My bed is a well full of nourishment
With a blanket of snow
