The Global Effect

As the years go by and the snow becomes thin
Losing weight on a hot, spicy diet
Snow no longer looks like lard in a bin
The thought of the world’s end caused a riot.

The ocean’s waters are starting to rise
Worried parents think of their child’s’ futures
Non-believers cover it up with lies
Holes in the Ozone require sutures.

Windmills and Hybrids may save our planet
We use solar power and recycling
Poked holes with the end of a bayonet
On your way to work save us bicycling.

Sun’s rays can be harmful on a beach dock
So do not forget to put on your sun block.

Dark Wind

Personification

By Connor Hinsley
Lyme Elementary School, Grade 7

Dark Wind
Running across the moorland
Screeching a bone-chilling howl,
A dark blast of air extends
A torn, cold limb racing through
The air as fast as a bullet
Only to whip the skin of its
Unsuspecting target.

Weaving in and between shrubs
A black figure speeds across the grass
Leaving a dreaded trail of icy death
Following close behind it.
At once, the evil being turns to face,
Shocking its prey into bitter cold abyss.
