The Woes of Arcite and Palamon
Submitted by perspiciens on November 18, 2008 - 23:41.This is something I had to write for my EBL class. It's based off a story from Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales".
As a student rose from his seat, silence immediately regained control. Even the birds singing sweetly in the tree outside the window ceased their tweeting. The teacher eyed the student cautiously, unsure of whether or not to speak.
“We’re all talking while you’re talking because no one respects you,” he said boldly. The teacher’s eyes grew wide, along with the others’, and a devious smirk crept into the corner of his mouth. However, there was no mistaking the raw emotion in the veteran’s voice as he rebounded.
“Is that so, Arcite?” The student’s Adam’s apple slid as he swallowed. A boy sitting next to Arcite, his cousin Palamon, stood up beside him.

The Woes Of A Nerd
Submitted by perspiciens on May 31, 2008 - 21:26.I wrote this poem in April (I think):
stressed
been working
so hard
the pain
it's almost
unbearable
my life
a drawing
erased
redrawn
started over
switching interests
can't make up
my mind
nothing stays the same
everything keeps
changing
i learned that
she's leaving
soon
no word on
whether or not
he'll stay
the emotion
the drama
too much
all at once
i need things
not to change
all the time
i'm growing up
getting older
my body tries
to catch up with my brain
everyone says
i'm mature
they trust me
to be perfect
but i'm still
learning
believe it
or not
they both
trust me
i need
them both
help
she said
she'll give me
her email address
but that's
not enough
i pray
they'll always
be there
and they won't
already
i've lost him
once
will i be able
to recover
if he's lost
again
we're closer now
than ever
before
we think each others
thoughts
we speak each others
words
