2. Super Powers

Super Powers

If I had the powers to read other people minds that would be awesome I would read what’s on the teachers a mind to try and get the answers on a test or quiz. Or when she is trying to trick or pull pranks on the class. If I could read minds I could tell what a girl is thinking about me. I would have families pay me so I can tell them what there wife wants for there anniversary. What someone wants for there birthday our Christmas. I could make my own television show were I read people minds. When I go to the bank I would read pin number off your head, I could also work security to see who is thinking of robbing the bank. I could be the president right man and keep him safe. If I had the power to read mind I would probably be a detective or more like a lying detective, tell if the suspect is telling the truth about his dead wife in his beach house. Well it doesn’t take a genius to figure out he was lying.

The Fair

One time way way back when i was about 7 or 8 my mom and dad and of course me went to the fair in water bury vermont. At first we had to watch the parade witch was fun of course but what i was really waiting for was the carniville or whatsome people call it the fair. I loved the fair there aere so many rides to go on and great games to play. My favorite ride would have to be the flying trapieze. It is the swings that spin so fast roung and round. It made it so that i felt like i was flying like i did not have a care in the world.I would go on this ride like over ten times that day because it just made me feel like i could do any thing as aposed to flying witch i could do on those swings and every one knows i cant do that with out those swings. I wish i could feel like i am flying all the time. I really love going to the carniville with my family but most of all i love the flying trapeeze!

If I Could Fly

If I could have a super power it would be to have the ability to fly. I would want to fly because I could see the world from a whole new perspective. I would be able to see things that other people couldn't see, and that would be why this ability is so special. I could soar above the clouds and spend time with the birds. I could get any where I wanted to go in a hurry. Not to mention the fuel economy. In being able to fly you could be your own person. You could just be alone with nothing but the air rushing past your head. You could spend hours upon hours exploring new places or revisiting old ones with a new sense of wounder. In being able to fly you have endless possibilities and restrictions. If I could fly the I would be truly free.

Flying for Fun

Dropping from the sky like superman, flying to save a damsel in distress. Terminal velocity at two hundred mph slows me down. Then I curve up like a roller coaster that just went into a loop de loop. That is my dream to fly above the clouds in the suns great warmth. *Whoosh* the cold softness of the cloud leaves drips of water on my face. I could do so much more if I could fly to. I could fly to my friend’s house if I wanted to hang out or they needed me. I could fly to my family vacations so I don’t have to sit in a stuffy car all the way.

If I Could Fly

If I Could Fly

If I could have a super power I would fly. It would be easier to go on vacation because I wouldn't have to buy plane tickets. If my kite got stuck in a tree I could fly and get it. If I got stuck when I climbed trees, I could fly out. If I could fly I also could pick fruit off tall plants or reach things on high shelves. I could easily catch fly balls when I play softball. If I could fly I could see things from a different perspective. I would love to have the power to fly. It would be so cool!

How I Got My Super Powers

How I Got my Super Powers

By Danielle Brook
Chelsea Public School, Grade 10

I lived in the suburbs where nothing exciting ever happened. It was a Friday morning, and I was walking to school when I stepped in something green and sticky. I assumed it was gum.
"Gross!" I groaned. I took a twig and tried to scrape the stuff off of my shoe. Then there was a hissing sound as the twig caught on fire. The "gum" melted through my shoe, then my sock. I ripped them off frantically. The stuff was on my bare foot. It didn't seem to be hurting me, but I wasn't going to wait for it to start. I tried to get it off, but everything I used was instantly destroyed. I started screaming like a banshee.
"What's wrong?" A man had noticed my screaming.
"Can't get it off!"

dangerous
to read people's minds
flying across untouched land
to fly
reading the world under you, never to stand
to read people's minds

to fly
creating new mysteries, you are the keeper
to read people's minds
a brick wall at the unanswered answers
to fly
flowing through the weightless air, useless questions
to read people's minds
unforgivable
to fly
unforgettable

Super Powers

If I could have any superpower, I would probably want telekinesis. I wouldn't want invisibility because if I was crossing the street, someone might run me over. I wouldn't want mind-reading because it would be invading someone's privacy. If I had the ability to fly or superspeed, I might crash into something, but with telekinesis, I can move things with my mind.

Super Powers

Super powers

If I had a super power I would like to read minds. I would take that information of what people are scared of and use it to my advantage; I would black mail people if they didn’t do as I say. I like bring peace to the world, I would tell the whole world every ones secret and see if we would unite as a nation and be a happy family. I could use my power for evil like reading bank managers minds for passwords to enter the vault to steal money The last thing I would use my power for would be on TV show where I would read the hosts mind for the answers to win the game No one could stop me! That’s what I would do if I had the super power of mind reading. That is what some people would use their powers for and that is the truth you can’t deny that there are people who have super powers and what they would use them for.

Super Powers

Ring, Ring, Ring: the sound of my cell going off. I get up and do the usual stuff like a kid does. But it’s 7:30 and I will be late to school. Mom says not to use your powers just because you didn’t wake up on time. So I run so my mother can’t see and I go up, up in the sky. Zing, Zang, I make sure nobody sees me flying. OO, I see the school right ahead and then I land in the park behind the stinky garbage and run to school.

If I had the choice to either fly or read minds, I would choose to fly. I have always wanted to fly. Swinging on the swing-set turned into pretending to fly over the pasture overlooking all of the animals which, from my point of view, would be the size of ants. I know for a fact that if I did fly, I could always count on Cuddles, our dog, to be on the ground leaping, running and doing her best to catch up with me. To join me. She would be on the ground, leading me to somewhere I had never been before. Somewhere special.

Mystery Powers

I would choose neither power because if you knew what someone was going to say to you, there wouldn’t be a point of talking to one another. And flying would be fun but…
…but there would be stuff you would want. If you could fly up the whole side of the mountain you’ve wanted to climb up since you were a tiny kid, you wouldn't have the real experience to feel the rush. My dad said, “You shouldn’t rush through life, you should go step by step, little by little because we’re here for a short time so make it a great time.” My power is my dad.

If I had to choose between being able to fly and being able to read people’s minds, I would pick to have the power to fly.
Everyone dreams of flying up in the sky without a care in the world. It would be so amazing to just fly. You could do things that normal people couldn’t like fly over traffic during rush hour. You wouldn’t have a car anymore either and that could be a good thing, too.
I wouldn’t want to read people’s minds though because some things are meant to be a mystery. I wouldn’t want people to read my mind. It would be cool to know what people were thinking at times, but if it happened uncontrollably then it would get kind of overwhelming and it would really bother me.
I just think that being able to fly would be really cool to do. You could be like, “Hey Mom, I’m going to go fly around the block. Be back soon.” That would just be great!

Super Powers

I wake to the sound of my alarm clock and head downstairs. I sit down across from my father. While I pour my cereal, I hear little voices. I look at my dad… he’s not talking. I look at my mom in the kitchen…she’s not talking. NO ONE’S TALKING! This happens all day. I soon understand what it is, people’s thoughts! I can read people's minds!! Wow, this is amazing and now I’ll always know what to say to people! YAY!

Super Power

If I could have a super power, either flying or reading minds, I wouldn’t like either because you would have to keep it a secret. If someone found out, then people would go crazy and want to ask questions. You can be a super hero without super powers anyways. Firemen, policemen, and even doctors are all super heroes without super powers. We could even be normal people and still help people and maybe talk people into helping other people too to make more normal heroes. I think that even if I could really have a choice to have super powers, I wouldn’t because to me it’s child’s play and wouldn’t really happen. At all.

Super Powers

This is a story of what I would do with super powers. I’d be invisible when I felt like it if I did have this super power. It would be easy to arrest thieves or at least knock them out until the police came. These next two paragraphs are some examples of what I’d do with invisibility.

If the gangsters of New York didn’t like me before, this sure wasn’t going to improve our relationship. There was one of their leaders with a machine gun. I jumped on top of him; he fell; I pressure pointed him, and he fell unconscious. The two other leaders came rushing out, but I was invisible and was unbeatable. I kneed one of them in the chest; the other one opened fire. I flung myself to the ground, and he hit and killed his partner. I smashed his legs, and he fell. I flung myself over to his gun, picked it up, shot the other two guns, and held the first leader at gunpoint till the police came.

Super Powers

If I could have super powers, I would want to be able to fly! If everybody could fly, it would stop some pollution because everyone would not drive cars. There would still be some pollution because of buildings and work areas, but it could stop some. It would also be easier, meaning kids could fly places, too, and if they were old enough, they could fly to school on their own. I think flying would probably be the most useful super power!

Mind "Reading"

I'm reading this thing, and it's called . . . A MIND! There is so much information in it. I just can't believe it! Here's something! E = MC squared. I guess that means the author is Albert Einstein! I can't believe he isn't a #1 New York Times bestselling author! Let's see how many pages are left . . . -
"What are you doing?" said my brother.
"Reading something," I said.
"Um, that's a brain."
"Oh," I said. "Whoops."

Super Powers!

Whoosh, there he goes. The flying, the fierce, RAPTOR KING!
The hero that leaves villains crying. With one swift attack, he can handcuff the villains, sending them to jail.
Before he was a superhero, he was a car salesman. His name was Justin. He used to watch robbers drive past him and see the cops follow them. One day, a man was running with a bag.
A cop said, “Stop that thief! His name is Frank.”
Then Frank ran into the bushes. It made Justin so angry that people stole. He vowed to stop any villains he could stop.
Another day, a man pulled him into a dark alley and said, “Take this cream and rub it on you.” He rubbed it and poof, a burst of strength came upon him. He felt like he could fly as fast as a tornado. The day after that, he saw Frank.
He changed from Justin to Raptor King and stopped Frank in his tracks.
Raptor King said, “Frank, you stealer. That’s the second time you’ve stolen something. You’re going to jail.”

Super Powers

I listened to my scout’s report, determined not to be beaten again. He said that two Roman legions (2,000 men) were streaming over a hill, about a mile away, coming to attack. My fortress only had 1,600 men, but we had magic, and they did not. Suddenly two more messages came in.
The first one said:
“Sir,
The Romans are immediately in front of us. Permission to follow?”
I replied, “Permission granted, but keep to the trees, and do not attack yet.”
And the second one:
“Charles,
I’m low on power and expect that you are, too. Let’s risk it and do the ritual.
-James”
The ritual was a ceremony used to boost one’s power. It took about a half hour, and once you started, you were oblivious to the outside world and could not stop. The risky part was that the Romans were about fifteen minutes away, and we would be without leaders for the first part of the battle. I decided to risk it.

SUPERPOWERS

If I could choice between having the power to fly or to be able to read minds I would have to say the power to fly. The reason I would pick the ability of flight is because I would be able to go anywhere and not be late or kill our planet. The reason I say this is because cars pollute our planet and if I could fly I would be saving the earth a little bit at a time and with the other two reasons they are more personal because it involves what happens in my life. For example if I didn't have a ride to somewhere I would just fly there and with the other reason I would be able to see the sites of the world and do it whenever I want to be free though. You can say these are personal reasons but in fact they are but you can tell me you wouldn't use your powers to solve your own problems, I think not. So say what you want to say but that is way I would choose the ability to fly so I could do all those things and more.

If

IF

Flying.
Fast through the air like a bullet.
With this comes the gift of freedom, able to go wherever I please.
Whenever I want something, I can go get it, speedily zooming from place to place.
If not for this reason, for pure fun.
Flying fast and slow.
Flying straight up into the sky.
Flying loops and steep-banked curves.
Flying above the clouds, seamlessly passing through these giants of vapor.
Time really does fly.
Flying on and on.
Skimming the endless clear sky.

Indecision

Indecision

Sometimes I wish I could fly all around,
Through the air all day.
Turn loop-de-loops,
Jump through hoops,
With the birds I’d play.

But flying has its dangers, too,
Soaring through the air,
Getting sucked into jet engines!
Dangerous, but rare.
Always follow a buddy system,
Never fly solo.
You could get hurt or injured,
Don’t fly too high or too low.

Maybe flying’s not the thing for me,
I’m not so very brave.
But having the power of reading minds,
Might make me rant and rave!
I wonder what people think,
Compared to what they say,
I’d love to try and read minds,
Any time of any day!

I could tell if that guy likes me,
I could see what cards she has.
I’d know what my presents would be!
I could see if he likes funk or jazz.

But if I could read minds, in fact,
I’m sure that I would hear,
Something not so very nice,
Or something very queer!

KKKRRRZZZ! What a thought!

KKKRRRZZZ! What a thought! If I could choose a power between mind reading and flying, I would prefer mind reading. I could be able to see what people think about me and also know someone’s next move.

With mind reading, I could their mind, so I would never have to take a hit. I could become whatever I wanted and never do something wrong too! I could win in card games, boxing, and football too!

Having a mind power can be fun but get you into huge trouble. You shouldn’t go walking around reading people’s minds all the time because than they might you think are a freak.

Something happened like this just a little while ago…

I was in a bank and a robber broke in….

he took me hostage…

of course I read his mind…

and ducked, as soon as he swung and tried to punch!

He swung again, and again, and again...missing each time!

The robber got soooo frustrated; he left as soon as the cops arrived.

Have you ever met a super hero?

Have you ever met a super hero?
If not today is your lucky day!
I am a super hero and as you might know all super heroes have super powers.
Now you’re probably wondering what my super power?
Well, I’m going to tell you! My super power is the ability to read people’s minds.
You might think that reading peoples’ minds might not be that important, well it is!

You can also say that reading peoples’ minds is an amazing talent!
I think you get the point…I believe that reading peoples minds is a HUGE deal!!!

However, did you know I also think that reading peoples’ minds is also huge responsibility?

You never know when this power will vanish, so never, never, never waist a minute of this special ability! If you do waist them you might pass up the ability to know when you have a surprise test! You could prevent the panic or stress!

Well I have to go…time to read peoples minds! See ya!!!

BOOM BANG!

BOOM BANG!
What was that sound?
Oh No! I’m in the Waves!
HELP! HELP!
Someone save me I’m drowning!

“Save him!” said the captain.

All of a sudden…

“Supper Justin to the rescue!” said Justin

He flew to the ship that the man fell off of.

I flew right to him and for a moment I thought he was dead…

I flew to the hospital, with the man and the doctors went to work…

CRACK!!
What was that?
Oh my God, the dam has a crack!
Run!
I hear a scream…
I see the president’s wife…
I fly to the rescue!
I grab her right before…
the wall collapses…
That was a close one!
The president’s wife asks “What’s your name?”
“Chris Brown!” I announce.

If I Could Fly I Would Touch the Sky

If I could fly I would touch the sky

By Joseph Rabtoy
Sheldon Academy, Grade 8

Hi my name is Joseph Rabtoy. I just turned 13, and I’m an A+ student at Sheldon Academy. I’m pretty much just your everyday teenager. What I usually do with my free time is play videogames, look at my Pokemon card collection and pretend I have superpowers. The superpower that I wish I had the most would be the ability to levitate or in other words to fly!

Why would I pick the ability to fly? Well, because if I could fly, I could literally touch the sky. I don’t just want to literally touch the sky; I want to touch the sky by caring for my community. How could I touch the sky in that sort of sense you ask? I would eventually reach the sky and beyond by going above and beyond your normal standards. How? Okay, this time I will really explain.

Superpowers

If I had one super power it would be mind reading powers. If I had mind reading powers I would be a great friend. I could give my friends anything they wanted without asking them. If they wanted something but were to shy to ask me for it, I could give it to them. I would be so nice; I would save people from bad guys by dodging and tricking them.
