An orange’s world
Submitted by cocokitty8 on November 14, 2008 - 09:56.The sun comes up and I see my orange glow
Crows are cawing, threatening to split me open
I am stuck in a bowl, feeling my neighboring fruits
I am drifting off in my warmness
When the florescent light flips on
A sleepy eyed teenager slumps into the room
Rubbing his eyes
Then he reaches and there is panic
Which one will he pick?
Surely not me, oh please no! oh please no!
I feel is rough hands wrap around and I faint
When I wake up, the kiwi next to me is gone
And there is a sigh of relief throughout the basket
Sleepy's Capture
Submitted by cocokitty8 on November 5, 2008 - 09:39.Alice was just packing for her trip to California, when Flash jumped up on the bed and almost pushed her off. She just smiled and said, “Flash you are so funny.” As she dragged her bag down her steep stairs, she saw Chase running after Dizzy. Just then, Flash bumped into Dizzy and went out of control; he hit the table that the $500 vase was sitting on. Quickly, Alice dropped her things and caught it just in time and placed it back on the table. Afterwards, she checked on Spike who was getting slapped on the face by Sting’s fierce tail. That’s when she saw Barker yapping at Sleepy and Bear to get up. She broke it up and went into the living room to get books. There, she saw Fero biting Flop’s ears and Connie growling at the woman on television. Alice turned off the TV so that the madness would stop. She got the books that she needed, refilled the food and water bowls, and called the neighbor to look after them.

Nose Warmer

By Stephanie Stanglin
Woodstock Union High School, Grade 10
I hop inside and slowly defrost
Sitting for minutes on end
Waiting and waiting and waiting
Slowly feet, hands and body warm up
Oh but my nose is so cold
Wish there was something
Ta Da!! The nose warmer!
Heats the face
And stops a running nose
And all is right with the world
When the Sun Went Down
Submitted by cocokitty8 on October 16, 2008 - 12:36.The sun goes down
The house is asleep, shh!
Silence envelopes it with
Impenetrable force
Creek!
From the wood floor
In the kitchen
Up to see what it is
Out in the hall comes the creepiest glow
There stands a man with a suit on
A warrior it appears
Creek!
He turns and stares
And with a sudden shock
Descends downward
Into the deep hallows of the earth
But all is not forgotten
About what happened when the
Sun went down

Submitted by cocokitty8 on October 8, 2008 - 12:54.Alice woke up to the sound of her dogs barking. She took a shower, got dressed, and came down to eat breakfast. “Are you excited about the last day of school?” asked Penny, her mother. Alice replied, ”I can’t wait until summer starts!” Alice finished eating and getting herself together. She climbed on the bus saying, “this will be the best summer ever!” School was a blast. The students got to play all day and then later prepare for their graduation from Rose Elementary. That night Alice and her family went out to the local Applebee’s to celebrate. Alice decided that she was going to work hard this summer, but not too hard. She had been placed in advanced math and French. The next couple of days were spent cleaning out her spaces of this past year’s school supplies and buying her workbooks for the summer. She got right to work, and it only took her two weeks to complete both. The family went on their regular vacation to Cape Cod during the last week of June.
Theatre Uncovered
Submitted by cocokitty8 on October 6, 2008 - 06:48.At the end of fourth grade, my parents made a decision that changed my life forever; they enrolled me in summer theatre. I won the part of rainbow and porcupine and had a great time learning about the craft of theatre and meeting some nice people. Ever since, I have been heavily involved. I have been featured in roles such as an orphan in Annie, an owl in Pinocchio, spring in King Arthur’s Christmas and many more wonderful and intellectually challenging roles. Theatre gives me a chance to think about the problems of the world(s) in any given play and develop my mind more by listening to my peers and having creative discussions. Theatre was the best discovery that was made.
