Red

By Bjork Dearing-Nyhus

Red. It can be awful; spilling out and draining someone of life, but it can also be beautiful, representing the love between two or more people. It can bring feelings like remorse, intimacy, and frustration. It can cloud your vision with vengeance, or fill you with loving sights. It's used as a representation of all these emotions. It's used to describe pure rage. “In a blind rage, red clouded her vision.” It's also associated with blood. “The red substance seeped through my shirt; I started to feel lightheaded and slipped to the floor.” And of course, romance. “I felt my face flush red at her comment and turned away trying to hide my warm face from view.” It's grouped into so many meanings. What do you first think of other than the color when you hear the word red? Think about that. Is it love? Is it anger? Is it blood? What does red mean to you?
