We wake and see, to our dismay, the world lit, aflame.
Yet still, now we slumber and don’t stop to see,
our homes burning, our families gone, our time float away.
And when we wake, we don’t stop to see the underlying truth.
We wake and go, “it was you. Let me place the blame.”
We need a sound, a very loud sound, to pierce the air
and wake us from our long, dormant sleep.
Hopefully, when we wake we don’t blame the cows and sheep.
Hopefully, when we wake we truly wake after winter like a bear.
Let us not wake and go, “it was you, so I shouldn’t care.”
We need to wake now, not later or next hour.
And when we wake, let’s not be groggy.
The truth needs to rise. The truth is the key.
Let us wake right now, for the time is now.
Let’s now wake and go, “I see, it was me. I see.”
