July Nights

By Camila Vivanco

I love July nights when you can feel the warm sun on your skin as it goes down when you can taste the sweetness in the air. Not a care in the world. It’s too early to be worrying about the summer reading you were supposed to get done. And not worth it to talk about all the school drama you left behind. You spend your days being present and being with the people you actually want to surround yourself with. As the sun sets, you can read on the porch. You see the trees dancing in the breeze. You close your eyes and smell the freshness of the flowers. Maybe you should bike down to the beach and see the sunset more clearly. Might as well soak in the summer when you can. Summer goes by like it's only a few weeks long. And when it's over all you can think about is how much more you could have done.
